今回(こんかい)は「もったいない」ということばを説明(せつめい)します。
「もったいない」は使(つか)えるものが捨(す)てられたり、働(はたら)けるものがその力(ちから)を使(つか)わないでいたりして、無駄(むだ)になっていると感(かん)じるという意味(いみ)です。「どうして使(つか)わないの？使(つか)えばいいのに。」という気持(きも)ちです。

例(たと)えば、ピザを1枚(いちまい)の半分(はんぶん)食(た)べました。お腹(なか)がいっぱいで、もう食(た)べられません。残(のこ)りを捨(す)てますか。
だめ～。
もったいないです。冷蔵庫(れいぞうこ)に入(い)れておけば、明日(あした)食(た)べられます。もったいないから、取(と)っておきましょう。
そうしよう。
友達(ともだち)と映画(えいが)に行(い)く約束(やくそく)をしました。12時(じゅうにじ)に駅(えき)で会(あ)います。私(わたし)は時間(じかん)どおりに行きました。でも友達(ともだち)は12時(じゅうにじ)30分(さんじゅっぷん)になっても、来(き)ません。電話(でんわ)をしても、出(で)ません。時間(じかん)がもったいないので、帰(かえ)ります。
弟(おとうと)は日本語(にほんご)の他(ほか)に、英語(えいご)、中国語(ちゅうごくご)、フランス語(ご)、ドイツ語(ご)を話(はな)すことができます。

弟(おとうと)は今(いま)仕事(しごと)を見(み)つけようとしていますが、全然(ぜんぜん)言語(げんご)を使(つか)わない仕事(しごと)を探(さが)しています。もったいないです。弟(おとうと)に言(い)います。「もったいなくない？！言語(げんご)を使(つか)う仕事(しごと)にしたら？」このようなときにも「もったいない」を使(つか)います。
例文(れいぶん)です。
ライブのチケットを買ったのに、風邪(かぜ)で行(い)けなかった。もったいない。
水(みず)を流(なが)し続(つづ)けるのはもったいないから、やめてください。
天気(てんき)がいいのに、家(いえ)の中(なか)にいるのはもったいない。

What is “Shouhi kigen”?
消費(しょうひ)期限(きげん)は書(か)いてあるときまで安全(あんぜん)に食(た)べられる日(ひ)や時間(じかん)という意味いみ。これは10時(じゅうじ)まで。もうすぐ10時(じゅうじ)になるから、もう売(う)れないんだ。
