今回は「せっかく」ということばを説明します。
「せっかく」は時間、努力、チャンスなどを大事に思う気持ちを強く言うときに使います。「せっかくの～（なになに）」「せっかく～（なになに）のに」「せっかく～（なになに）から」という形でよく使って、あることが無駄になることを残念に思う気持ちを表します。

例えば、家族のためにたくさんおいしい料理を作りました。とても時間がかかりました。でも家族はみんなご飯を食べて帰って来て、誰も食べません。せっかくおいしいご飯を作ったのに、誰も食べてくれなくて、残念です。
初めて京都へ旅行に来ました。ずっと楽しみにしていた旅行です。京都といえば、お寺や神社などの古い建物ですよね。せっかく京都に来たから、お寺や神社にたくさん行きます。観光が終わって、そろそろ夜ご飯の時間です。実は今ハンバーガーが食べたい気分です。
